About Me

Hi there, I'm Ben and I'm currently a Senior Game Producer for BULKHEAD, working on Wardogs: King of the Hill. I'm a BSc Hons in Game Development graduate based in Hampshire, UK.

I've been in the games industry in some capacity for over a decade now and am looking for a role to push myself into new professional challenges.

 

I enjoy exploring odd ideas and approaching problems with a cool head and eyes on success. When I'm not making games, I can be found hiking with my partner and Labrador, turning out some mean ooni-baked pizzas or rolling dice in the 41st Millennium.

Education

I studied Game Development at The University of East London and graduated with a First Class Honours in June 2019. The course saw me produce many playable prototypes in Unity using C# both alone and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

 

Now, in my spare time I try to regularly prototype ideas and participate in game jams using Unity, but have also started to teach myself C++/Blueprints for Unreal Engine 4 to foster further familiarity with a different engine.

 

Most of my time working in game dev as been in a production capacity, helping deliver products on budget, on brand and on time, however most of my production roles have also seen me exposed to a lot of design assistance work. At Firefly Studios I handled a large amount of balance and UI work to support our Lead Designer while at BULKHEAD now, I regularly shadow design proposal meetings and support the design team writing up their confluence documentation.

 

Before moving into the dev sphere I worked in Tech & Video game PR for Lick PR, where we collaborated with clients such as Rebellion, Dovetail Games and Digital Extremes on activations of upcoming products.

 

Additionally, I have in excess of 4 years experience as a freelance games journalist, having written for the likes of Push Square, Playboy, Game Revolution, and Official PlayStation Magazine.

 

Much of my regular journalism work consisted of conducting interviews with developers, attending preview and launch events as an outlet representative and covering industry events like E3 and Gamescom.

Interests

I have a keen interest in specialty coffee, mechanical keyboard and outdoor trail hiking with my partner and our nutty Labrador, Rook. After a day at work I like to wind down by building and painting miniatures, like Warhammer or hanging out with friends/colleagues on Discord playing games like the ones below.
